Accounting Technology

The Accounting Technology program is a technical program designed to prepare students for entry-level accounting positions in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and inventory as well as enhance the skills of persons currently employed in accounting who wish to advance. Upon successful completion, students should be prepared for accounting positions in business and industry, governmental agencies, personal finance, and public accounting firms.

An Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree is earned upon successful completion of the Accounting Technology program curriculum.

There is also a one-year certificate program option designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in professional and business offices. All of those courses are part of the two-year program curriculum and can also be applied toward the AAS degree.

Progression: To meet graduation requirements for this program, students must successfully complete the specified courses listed with a “C” average (GPA of 2.00) or better. A grade of “C” or higher is required in each BOT and ENG course to progress in the program.

Minimum admission requirements (in addition to general admission requirements) must include one of the following:

  • Attain a 17 composite score on the ACT;
  • ACCUPLACER Reading score of 70 or above and ACCUPLACER Arithmetic score of 60 or above
  • ACCUPLACER Next Gen Reading score of 245 and Next Gen Arithmetic 245 or Next Gen Algebra 230
  • Earn a “C” or above in Intermediate English (ENG 0123);
  • Complete 15 semester hours of program general education coursework with a “C” average or above at an accredited college or university. Developmental coursework does not satisfy this requirement.

Meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.  Admission is contingent on the number of available spots in the program at the time the prospective student meets all requirements.
