Graphic Design Technology

FIND YOUR WINGS

The Graphic Design Technology program is designed to prepare students for employment in the graphic design and immersive technology fields. There are two concentrations to choose from: print and media design or virtual and augmented reality design. The program trains students to develop strong design skills in publications, illustrations as well as the use of 3D modeling software to create game characters, virtual worlds, and experiential art using VR/AR.

The Associate of Applied Science degree is earned upon the successful completion of the Graphic Design Technology curriculum.

Progression: To meet graduation requirements for this program, students must successfully complete the specified courses listed below with a “C” average (GPA of 2.00) or better. A grade of “C” or higher is required in each CAT and ENG course to progress in the program.  The following courses are listed in sequence. Any change must be approved by the program coordinator.

Minimum admission requirements (in addition to general admission requirements) must include one of the following:

  • Attain a 15 composite score on the ACT;
  • Score a 230 or higher on the ACCUPLACER NG Reading Section and the ACCUPLACER NG Writing Section
  • Earn a “C” or above in Intermediate English and Reading (ENG 0124);
  • Complete 15 semester hours of program general education coursework with a “C” average or above from an accredited college or university. Developmental coursework does not satisfy this requirement.

Secure the recommendation of the program coordinator; and attend a program orientation session after all other program requirements are met.

Students entering the program for the first time must contact the program coordinator prior to enrolling in any Graphic Design courses.
