Sophomores in the Phil Hardin Honors College at Meridian Community College were saluted as the group's honor forum held its final gathering for the 2023-24 academic year.
"I not only wanted to succeed for myself, I wanted to succeed for my children. To be proud of myself, to let them be proud of me, to let them see that no matter how old you are, you can still accomplish your goals," she said.
Maj. Brent P. Gough, squadron plans officer and senior pilot, returned to Meridian Community College's Scaggs Field to throw the ceremonial first pitch as a part of the Eagles Military Appreciation Day.
O'Neal, who will receive her associate of applied science degree and career and technical certificates from the Medical Office Management Technology program on May 10, is 56 years old and the mom of four children and grandmom of 18.
