Taking a closer look at the U.S. Constitution

Two Meridian Community College coeds pauses from their studies in the Todd Library to get a look at the booklet, U.S. Constitution and Fascinating Facts. In observance of Constitution Day, Tuesday, Sept. 17, the library is giving away free copies of the booklet.

Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by 39 men on Sept. 17, 1787. The blueprint for America, the U.S. Constitution is the highest law in the land. This document outlines the core principles of the American government as well as defines the federal government’s structure, clarifies the relationship between the government and the states, guarantees certain rights and freedoms of its citizens and explains the powers the government has.

From left are Taylor Harris, 18, of Quitman, and Lauren Snowden, 18, of Collinsville. The two friends received a copy of the free booklet, The U.S. Constitution And Fascinating Facts About It.
