Welcome, to Meridian Community College’s (MCC) web page for Disability Support Services. The purpose of this site is to provide information regarding disability support services offered at MCC. The college and staff are dedicated to assisting you achieve your educational goals through making the college’s facilities and programs accessible for all people. Disability Support Services have been provided at MCC for 14+ years, which shows our dedication and support for students with documented disabilities. Consistent with the mandates of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Meridian Community College is committed to providing individuals with disabilities equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from its educational programs and services. The Coordinator of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Support Services has been designated to coordinate the College’s efforts to comply with and carry out its responsibilities under these laws.
The CTE Support Services Coordinator is located in Reed 123. The telephone number is 484-8777 and the e-mail address is  gmills@meridiancc.edu The office serves as the central contact point for students with disabilities. The goal of the CTE Support Services is to provide a comprehensive accessible environment to ensure an individual is viewed on the basis of ability, not disability. Students are seen on an individual basis to determine accommodations needed for the student to be successful. In addition to coordinating and providing services for students with documented disabilities, Disability Support provide guidance and technical assistance to faculty and staff working with students. Students with disabilities must self-identify to receive accommodations and special services. Self-identification involves the student registering with the CTE Support Services Office and presenting appropriate documentation verifying the disability. Self-identification is voluntary. However, CTE Support Services can be of service to students only to the extent that their individual needs are made known. Students and prospective students are encouraged to make early contact with the CTE Support Service Coordinator.

Single Parents/Displaced Homemakers

Career and Technical Education (CTE) Support Services provides members of special populations equal access to recruitment, enrollment and placement activities, and to the full range of educational programs available. These programs include CTE specific programs of study, and comprehensive career guidance and counseling services. No one shall be discriminated against on the basis of his/her status as a member of a special population.

The CTE Support Services Office strives to encourage independence, to assist students in realizing their academic potential, and to facilitate the elimination of physical, programmatic, and attitudinal barriers.

Students are considered part of a special population if:
• They are economically disadvantaged
• They are educationally disadvantaged
• They are a displaced homemaker
• They are a single parent
• They are preparing for non-traditional training and employment
• They have limited English proficiency

Self-identification is voluntary. However, the CTE Support Services Office can be of service to students only to the extent that their individual needs are made known. Students and prospective students are encouraged to make an early contact with the CTE Support Services Office.
Services for single parents and displaced homemakers include counseling, advocacy support, community referrals and networking with agencies. Some students may qualify to participate in a book loan service.
