Class act – Nineteen students in the Meridian Community College Practical Nursing Program received their nursing pins during a ceremony held Friday in the McCain Theater. The students spent 1,000 hours in class, laboratory and clinical settings and the nursing pins they received signify the dedication of their commitment, said Lara Collum, program head of the Practical Nursing Program. Also during the ceremony, MCC President Dr. Scott Elliott saluted the students and encouraged them. “Nurses have to be very special people,” he said. Beth Wallace, Practical Nursing Program instructor, left, adjusts the pin on student Jarvis Ragsdale during the ceremony. Student Danielle Toomey, left, passes along the light to fellow student Anna Tindle during the ceremony.
