FallFest extends to four days
From pumpkin painting to door decorating to chili cook-offs, this year’s Campus Life Oktoberfest has something for everyone.
And there’s just about something everyday, said Adrian Cross, campus life coordinator, about this event that’s set for Oct. 17-20.
On Monday, Oct. 17, the theme is Think Pink, Breast Cancer Awareness day. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to wear the color pink with a prize going to the “pinkest.” Clubs and Campus Activities Board members will be selling pink cupcakes, bracelets and pins. As the evening begins, there will be Walk for the Cure program at the track at 7 p.m. Luminaries will be lighted and breast cancer survivors will speak. There will even be the release of pink balloons.
The following day, Tuesday, Oct. 18, will be QEP Day. Students can spin the QEP wheel, answer questions and win prizes that are all QEP related. A pumpkin painting competition is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Ivy and will be a chili cook-off, Quest for Epicurean Perfection. The cook off will be judged at noon in Ivy Hall with set up starting at 11:15 a.m. in Ivy. Participants are asked to prepare enough chili for five judges to taste and the remainder to be sold and funds donated to an on-campus organization or to the Helping Hands committee. There will also be a Karaoke Night at Club Eagle beginning at 7 p.m.
The hallmark of the week, Klub Kraziness Day, is set for Wednesday, Oct. 19. Set up begins at 9 a.m. with the festival set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Quad. Campus music groups Encore, Gospel Choir and Dimensions will perform; clubs will be selling food and there will be a dunk tank, inflatable gladiator joust, mechanical bull and rock wall. To cap off the evening, a pool party is set to begin at 6 o’clock.
On Thursday, Oct. 20, faculty, staff and students are encouraged to sport some camouflage whether it is a shirt, pants, hat or bandanas. The campus- wide door decorating contest will be judged at noon. Later in the day, the tailgate party, Grillin’ on the Lawn, will get under way at 6 p.m. and the Powderpuff Football game will start at 7 p.m.
Not to mention numerous QEP activities including a chili contest, a QEP song sang by the Dimensions and much more!
