of MCC sophomore Audrey Sollie.

 

Meridian Community College sophomore Audrey Sollie received the H.M. Ivy Award Monday evening during the College’s annual awards ceremony.
 
Held in the campus’ McCain Theater, the awards ceremony recognizes outstanding students in the areas of leadership, scholarship, performance and institutional excellence. The H.M. Ivy Award is given to the most outstanding sophomore student for the academic year.
 
Sollie was a multi-category winner during the evening’s ceremonies. In addition to the H.M. Ivy Award, Sollie was recognized as the All Mississippi Community College Academic Team member, the Higher Education Appreciation Day Working for Academic Excellence recipient and Outstanding Physical Science Student.
 
Scholar Athletes of the Year honors went to Kelsey Edwards, Shelley Munn, Clemens Dvorak and Chase Jordan. Additional award were presented to: Krystal Mason, Medical Laboratory Technology Student of the Year; Jamar Hudson, Best All-Around Driver 2010-2011; Bryan Cook, Best Overall Driver 2010-11; Pat Jones, Top Drafting and Design Technology Student; Ryan Poythress, Margaret Armstrong Excellence in Nursing Fall 2010 recipient; Andrea Heinrich, Margaret Armstrong Excellence in Nursing Spring 2011;

Sollie and Anna Beth Bates, who were All Mississippi Academic Nominees, were recognized; and MCC Biology Instructor Lynne Anderson as recipients of the Higher Education Appreciation Day Working for Academic Excellence (HEADWAE).

During the evening the Lucile Reisman Rosenbaum Memorial Scholarship, The Robert Cochran Memorial Scholarship and The Sammy Broadhead Memorial Scholarship and were announced. Benjamin Frazier won the Rosenbaum scholarship; Daniel Allen won the Cochran scholarship and Nate Lanthan won the Broadhead scholarship.

Outstanding student organizations earning the B.G. Raden Award included Baptist Student Union, Early Childhood Development Technology, MCC Gospel Choir, Phi Beta Lambda – Computer Technology; Phi Theta Kappa; Student Association of Broadcasters and Student Association of Medical Laboratory Technology. Top organizations also named were Delta Epsilon Chi, Future Educators of America, Health Occupation Students of America and Phi Beta Lambda, Business Office Technology.

Who’s Who Among Students in American Community and Junior Colleges recipients were also recognized.
