Congratulations to our distinguished alum, Cliff Lee!

As you may know Cliff Lee won both the games he pitched in the 2009 World Series. Here are some facts about Cliff Lee that you may not know about during his time at MCC:

Meridian Community College (1997-1999)
-Left-handed pitcher
-Led MCC with 9 wins in 1998
-Led MCC with 114 strikeouts in 1999 (2nd highest single-season strikeout total All Time for MCC)
-183 career strikeouts ranks in top-five All Time for MCC pitchers
-Played on the 1998 MCC team that won the Miss-Lou Conference and NJCAA Section Championships and advanced to the 1998 NJCAA Division I College World Series in Grand Junction, CO.
-Graduated from: Benton High School
-Hometown: Benton, Ark.
-After MCC: Played for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks (NCAA Division I, Southeastern Conference)
-Drafted by Cleveland Indians after Arkansas
-Traded to the Philadelphia Phillies
-Named to the American League All Star team in 2008
-Won the AL Cy Young Award in 2008
-Named the AL Comeback Player of the Year in 2008
