MCC and the Lauderdale County School District are celebrating 11 years together producing a county-wide musical. Past shows have included: The Wiz, Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida, Back to the 80’s: The Totally Awesome Musical, Disco Inferno, Guys and Dolls, All Shook Up, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Carnival, Kiss Me, Kate!, and last year’s production of The Wizard Of Oz. “Each year our students have been exposed to various technical aspects of producing a show, and this year, we add the experience of flight to their education,” Brand said.
Peter Pan is the re-telling of J. M. Barrie’s classic. In it, Peter and his mischievous sprite sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and, with a sprinkle of pixie dust, begin a magical journey across the stars that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, the travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates and the evil Captain Hook.
Two sets of casts are bringing the tale to the stage, Brand noted, so there are multiple actors in the same roles. Performers include Antavia Mosley and Katie Miles, Mrs. Darling; Darby Kinney, Mr. Darling; Maggie Freeman, Captain Hook; Lucas Vanderburg, Nana the Dog/Tick Tock Crock; Piper Gonzalez, Wendy Darling; Asher Brand, Michael Darling; Noah Brand, Jon Darling; Reah Clymer, Peter Pan; Kennedy Grice and Lawson Alysse Freeman, Tiger Lily; Colby Brown and Shaun Cosby, Smee; Jillian Goodman and Arlyn Grace Sanders, Starkey; Shelby Robison and Josslyn Broome-Tucker, Cecco; Patrick Martin and Sydney Stokes, Bill Jukes; Alana
