Middle school students advance to state competition

Four local middle school students will be advancing to the state level Junior High Math Tournament next month as they were first and second place winners of the District Junior High Math Tournament held at Meridian Community College on March 1.

The College’s math department hosts this annual competition on the MCC campus.

Eighth-grade winners were Brianna Anthony of West Lauderdale, first place; Brianna Moore of Clarkdale, second place; and Harley White of Northeast, third place.

Seventh-grade winners were Slade Little of Southeast, first place; Jonathan Stears of Northeast, second place; and Jaxon Hatcher of West Lauderdale, third place.

The state-level tournament will be in April at Hinds Community College.
