Job fair yields scholarship funds

When the Radio People and Meridian Community College joined forces for the 17th annual job fair, both participants and vendors profited.

Another beneficiary of the event: Outstanding MCC Media Production Technology students.

Proceeds from the job fair are earmarked for the Radio People Scholarship which is funded through The MCC Foundation. This year, $1,450 was given to the scholarship fund.

Gigi South, general manager of The Radio People, noted the job fair is a great community outreach project for the broadcasting and media production company. College officials including Shannon Coleman, WIOA case manager and coordinator of the fair for the College, said MCC’s long-standing relationship with The Radio People has offered a win-win for area businesses, those seeking employment, and our students who have benefitted from scholarship funding.

Vice President for Advancement and Executive Director of the MCC Foundation Barbara Jones added the College and Foundation are thankful for the support given by The Radio People for many years.
