With a standing-room-only Casteel Gallery full of students, faculty, staff and community members ready to greet him, MCC President Dr. Thomas Huebner was surprised.
For the start of the 2019-2020 academic year on Monday, Dr. Huebner was feted with a surprise party celebrating his first year of service to MCC. “I don’t know what to say. It’s been such an incredible year, and I’ve been very blessed by the opportunities here,” Dr. Huebner said to the gathering.
The event was also a way to thank Dr. Huebner. Phyllis Holladay, an advisor to MCC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honor society, presented him with a commemorative brick and a plaque in his honor recognizing his first year of service to the College.
“You do not have to know Dr. Huebner for 365 days to know that everything he does is for student success. I am very thankful for that,” Holladay said.
Also thankful, Dr. Huebner said, “that you have accepted, welcomed and made me one of your family is very humbling to me, and I am grateful.”
