MCC Sweeps Road Games At Wallace-Selma

The Meridian Community College Eagles rebounded on Tuesday by taking a pair of road victories over Wallace-Selma (3-0, 7-2). The Eagles improved to 6-7 with the doubleheader sweep and will return home next Tuesday against Coahoma. The doubleheader against the Tigers is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at Scaggs Field.

The Eagles got a solid pitching performance from freshman Caleb Delee and timely hitting from Kasey Hinton to secure the game one win. Delee worked three innings and allowed no runs, to go along with five strikeouts. Brandon Hallford worked four scoreless innings in relief and collected five strikeouts. Delee and Hallford combined to allow no walks and only three hits in the victory.

Hinton led the Eagles at the plate with two RBI singles and Blake Barrow added an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Wade Wass, Gabe Woods, and Jonathan Youngblood each finished the game with two hits apiece.

The Eagles completed the sweep of Wallace-Selma with a five-run victory in game two of the doubleheader. Mitchell Babb took the pitching win for MCC by working four innings and striking out seven in his first start of the season. Kasey Hinton and Alvin Franklin led the Eagles at the plate with two hits apiece.

Gabe Woods added a two-run double for the Eagles and Charles Morton chipped in with a run scoring single.
