Coach Rose is starting his fourth season as head coach at MCC and is very excited about the 2008-2009 squad.  With the core of last season's MACJC Championship team returning and a highly touted crop of freshman coming in, the bar is set high for the Eagle Baseball team in 2009.

Coach Rose joined a long line of successful coaches (MCC Coaching Legacy) when he became head baseball coach at Meridian Community College for the 2006 season. Rose had already established himself as one of the finest recruiters in the Southeast before taking over as head coach.  The last class brought in by Rose which graduated in 2007; seven signed Division-1 scholarships or signed professionally.

Rose maintains the high standards at MCC as the Eagles have won two MACJC State Championship.  Coach Rose was honored as the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges Baseball Coach of the Year in 2006 & 2008 and was honored as the Mississippi Association of Coaches 2008 Coach of the Year.

Coach Rose was just as impressed with his team classroom accomplishments as he was with their play on the field in 2006. The Eagle players had 13 Dean's List student-athletes, and 7 Phi Theta Kappa members.  The team's GPA was a record high 3.18 in 2006.  In 2008, Jason Coats was an Academic All- American, and currently Matt Cox is a pre-season Academic All-American.

Rose was an assistant to Coach Chad Caillet in 2005 when the Eagles went 41-12 and posted the first undefeated home-field record in school history. The native of Ohio came to MCC after five years as an assistant at the University of Mobile. He was a four-year letterman as a catcher at UM. As an assistant coach at Mobile, Rose helped guide the Rams to their first-ever NAIA World Series appearance in 2001. In coaching the Ram pitchers, Rose’s staff compiled the lowest earned run average in the Gulf Coast Atlantic Conference every year of his tenure at UM.

Coach Rose is a member of the JUCO Advisory Board for Perfect Game representing Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana.  Coach Rose has served as a Camp Coordinator for MSU's high school and pitcher/catcher camps the past two years.  Coach Rose most recently received an honorary membership into Phi Theta Kappa.

This year, in an effort to establish an active, ongoing relationship with former MCC players, Coach Rose is publishing an Alumni Newsletter and has announced the creation of The Eagle Dugout Club.

An Ohio native, Rose is married to the former Dana Jones of Demopolis, Ala. The couple are the proud parents of two daughters and a son: Peyton (8), Madeline (6), and Cy (3).
