The Eagles 2007 Season may have ended before they wanted, but the Eagles had another historic season.  It began in the fall when 7 players signed their letters of intent to Division I schools.  Three SEC schools, 1 Conference USA school, and 2 to the Southland Conference.  All received 50% or better scholarships.  The 2007 season started out with a bang as the Eagles had a non-conference record of 18-4.  The Eagles landed into conference on a roll and it never stopped.  They went on to have a combined record of 17-6 against Mississippi Community Colleges, and they finished the season with an impressive 41-15 mark.

The Eagles top performers were Tyler Moore (MSU Signee), Michael Guerrero (Ole Miss Signee) , and Jarrod Parks offensively.  Moore hit an astonishing .471, Guerrero hit .375,  and Parks hit a respectable .407 as a freshman.  Moore led the team in almost every offensive category:  HR's (19) new record, 2B's(22), RBI's(62), Runs(48), OB%(.535) new record, and SLUG %(.927) as he was the Triple crown winner of the team.  His season has allowed the 2007 Eagle offense to capture two Team Offensive Records.  Guerrero established himself as one of the Eagles all-time homerun leaders with 25 long balls in two seasons. The Eagles hit .353 as a team, while having an OB% of .440.  Other main contributors to the record breaking season are locals Drew Snider and Scott Mosley.  A West Lauderdale Alumni, Snider, hit .386 with an OB% of .480, and Enterprise High school Alumni, Mosley, hit .384 with an OB% of .439.  The most impressive stat for the offense was they hit .297 in the playoffs and they averaged 8 runs a contest.

The Eagles were not solely an offensive force, but they had four dominant arms that carried them to their 41-15 mark.  "The Four Horseman" of Jordan Brown (LSU-Signee), Kedric Martin (Southeastern Louisiana Univ. Signee), Lee Swindle (MSU Signee), and Wade Weathers (USM Signee) were the workforce for the Eagles.  They had a combined record of 32-9 with a 2.61 ERA and 281 K's.  Leading the way were 10 game winners Weathers and Martin.  Weathers finished the year as the national leader in strikeouts per inning and Martin was third in the country.  Swindle, a 2007 All-American, led the way in ERA with a 1.93, as Brown was second with a 2.58.  The bullpen was headed by freshman arms of Chase Porch (Drafted in '06 by the Braves) and Jason Coats, who both will be fighting for starting roles next season.

The Eagles did not capture another championship this season.  Some may say it was a down year for the Green and White.  If so, we at MCC are very proud of the down year that we had.  We played the toughest schedule in Junior College baseball, we dominated the state in league play, we had seven Div I signees, we had 5 players drafted, we broke all time hit records, and we played as a team the whole year.  A down year at Meridian is like a championship season at most other colleges.  Next year the Eagles hope to do the same thing as they did this year, but with a few championships trophies to go along with it.
