Head Coach

Dillon Sudduth begins his fifth season as head baseball coach. Before leading the Eagles, Sudduth spent five years as top assistant. Including his time wearing the green and white as a player, Sudduth has been a part of Eagle baseball for the past decade.

During his coaching stint at MCC, Sudduth’s Eagles have captured one Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) State Championship, two Mississippi-Louisiana (Miss-Lou) Conference Championships, one Region 23 Championship and one Region 23 runner-up finish. The latest club rose to as high as seventh in the nation, finishing with a record of 39-12.

As the Eagles head coach, his squads have also excelled in the classroom. The 2014 team was named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic Team. The team posted a top team grade point average (gpa) in the nation, finishing fourth nationally and first in the MACJC. In nine seasons, Sudduth has tutored four NJCAA All-Americans and the program’s single season and career home run leader. As a testament to successful player development over the course of Sudduth's time at Meridian is the program's 65 Division 1 signees, including 14 to the Southeastern Conference. An Eagle has heard their name called 19 times by Major League Baseball's amateur draft over the past eight seasons, with outfielder Corey Dickerson already reaching the major leagues with the Colorado Rockies.

Two major Scaggs Field projects have been completed under his time as head coach. The Smith Williams Field House and a complete renovation of the main grandstand featuring covered chair back seating were completed before last season.

As a player, Sudduth was a two-time All-State pick as shortstop and state champion for Madison Central High School. Sudduth also lettered three years as a high school quarterback for the nationally-ranked football program. He spent the first two years of his collegiate baseball career at MCC. Sudduth was an infielder on the 2004 NJCAA World Series team and 2005 MACJC Championship team under current University of Southern Mississippi assistant coaches Mike Federico and Chad Caillet (also former MCC baseball coaches). After MCC, student-athlete Sudduth completed his playing career as a starting infielder at Southeastern Louisiana University where he was named Teammate of the Year after his senior season and received the Scholastic Scholar-Athlete award before graduating with a degree in business management.
