Adult Basic
Education (ABE)
Adult Basic Education at
Meridian Community College is provided by a federal grant,
overseen by the
Mississippi Community College Board, and
offered
through the
Community and Business Development Division
of MCC.
The ABE Program works in four basic areas:
1. Administering the official GED Examination;
2. ABE/GED classes to prepare individuals to obtain their GED diploma or improve their education functioning level;
3. English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to prepare
immigrants to interact successfully in our community, and
prepare them for citizenship;
4. Literacy tutoring to help adults learn to read.
All classes
offered are free of charge.
The ABE/GED program is located on
the 2nd floor of the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Student Center in
room 207.
